Just a little background on little old me..

Welcome to any one who is gracing me with your presence. I figured I should start out with a little background to get us started.

My name is Amanda and I am addicted to coffee and chocolate. In other words, I'm a wife and mother. (I also like long walks on the beach but I'll save that kind of talk for over dinner ;) ) I am 24 and I am a stay at home mom. Not exactly on the same page as most other women my age who are still hooking up and hanging out. So friend applications are always being accepted for other awesome women like myself who like to have fun and see the humor in everyday life.

I have two 1 year old twins. You may be asking "why did she say TWO twins? Isn't that redundant?" Well over the last year I have been asked so many dumbfounding questions about twins that I have lost my faith in the general intelligence of humanity as a whole.

They are boy/girl twins. That means that no, they are not identical. Have you ever seen. Naked human being? Do girl parts and boy parts look identical to you? Or perhaps you live in a disillusioned state where you think everyone looks like a creepy smooth Ken doll? Either way, no, they are not identical and if you had to ask that question no you cannot hold them. For the sake of this blog(and any future web searches for them by colleges or potential employers) I shall call them Girl Tornado and Boy Tornado.

Will we be adding more Tornados to our brood? That is actually a pretty hot button topic that I am sure will be discussed in the coming months.

Now on to my partner in crime, baby daddy and hubby extraordinaire. We met in a Hooters. We got engaged at Wrigley Field during a Rascal Flatts concert and got married in the back of a pizza place. To quote Theodor Seuss Geisel (the infamous Dr. Seuss): “We are all a little weird and life is a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.”

Hubby extraordinaire is a firefighter/paramedic. Now most ladies usually say something about how awesome that must be because they picture one of those firemen calendars that feature the shirtless firemen in their bunker gear all sweaty and what have you. And yes it is awesome because it takes a certain caliber of man to willingly put his life on the line for others but the reality is what lies on those pages. The reality of a firehouse is sort of pudgy guys doing housework or running drills during the day between calls or at night in recliners making fart jokes and trading YouTube videos waiting for their next call. There are a lot of pranks and bullshitting going on. I like to call it unsupervised paid daycare.

The interesting part about his job though is not the dangerous nature of it but the schedule. He works 24 hours on and 48 hours off. But because daycare for twins is so freaking expensive and he makes more than me (a fact I do not resent because he has more continuing education credits than my whole associates degree required) he works a second job too. He works hard for us and I appreciate it but that means a lot of alone time for me with the Tornados.

We live our lives day by day and we have all survived one year so far! Over the last year I have learned that I have so many everyday observations and no one to share them with. So this is my solution and even if no one else reads it, hopefully, it will be fun to look back on!
